Wattman World General Information – FAQ

The Wattman World General Information FAQ provides clear answers to common questions about our electric trains, company background, and global operations.

Whether you’re exploring our Mini or Maxi Express models or seeking details about supported venues, this page helps you get started with confidence

What is a trackless train, and how does it work?

A trackless train is a battery-powered ride vehicle that operates without tracks. It consists of a locomotive and passenger wagons that can be driven indoors or outdoors on hard, flat surfaces like concrete, asphalt, or tile.

Who typically uses Wattman trains?

Wattman trains are used by shopping malls, amusement parks, zoos, resorts, city parks, and event rental companies. They are ideal for venues looking to improve guest experience and generate revenue.

How many passengers can a Wattman train carry?

Passenger capacity depends on the train model and wagon configuration:

Mini Express

  • 3 wagons: up to ~20 small children or ~14 adults and children combined (max load 1,350 lb)

  • 4 wagons: up to ~24 small children or ~18 adults and children combined (max load 1,800 lb)

Maxi Express

  • 3 wagons: up to ~24 small children or ~18 adults and children combined (max load 2,550 lb)

  • 4 wagons: up to ~32 small children or ~24 adults and children combined (max load 3,400 lb)

This flexibility makes Wattman trains ideal for both small venues and large-scale operations, ensuring efficient guest flow and strong revenue potential.

What surfaces can a Wattman train operate on?

Our trains are designed for hard, flat surfaces such as concrete, asphalt, pavers, and indoor flooring. They are not suitable for rough terrain or steep slopes. This versatility allows seamless operation in malls, parks, zoos, and more.

Can a Wattman train operate on slopes or uneven terrain?

Wattman trains are primarily designed for flat surfaces. However, they can safely handle inclines of up to 7% (≈ 4 degrees) when fully loaded. For steeper or uneven terrain, we recommend a site assessment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

What makes Wattman trains different from other options?

Our trains are built with premium materials, zero-emission technology, and TÜV-certified safety features. Operators choose Wattman for its combination of low maintenance, high ROI, and strong brand reputation.

How long has Wattman been manufacturing trains?

Wattman has been designing and manufacturing premium trackless trains since 1994. Our trains are in use in over 50 countries and are trusted by operators across the U.S. for their quality and reliability.

Why are trains from other suppliers so similar to Wattman trains?

Many suppliers attempt to copy Wattman’s design and features because of its proven success. However, imitations often fall short in durability, safety, and performance. With over 30 years of expertise, Wattman remains the original and most trusted name in trackless train technology.

Why is a Wattman train considered the best on the market?

Wattman prioritizes safety, sustainability, and quality. Over 70% of our parts are sourced from renowned U.S. companies, and the rest are manufactured at our Canadian facility. This combination ensures unmatched reliability and craftsmanship—making Wattman the industry leader in trackless trains.

Why are Wattman trains often more expensive than others?

Wattman trains use premium materials and undergo strict quality control. Over 70% of components are sourced from leading U.S. companies, with the rest produced in-house in Canada. While copies may be cheaper, they often fail to meet quality or delivery standards, leading to higher long-term costs in maintenance and downtime. A Wattman train is a dependable long-term investment.
