Properties Grand Express

Configuration

With the introduction of the Grand Express, we have a train available for almost every situation.

The train was designed based on questions we have received from our customers in recent years. This showed that many customers were looking for a compact train that meets the following criteria:

  • The train had to be bigger than our Maxi Express but smaller and more maneuverable than the traditional large tourist trains;
  • The finish, appearance, and quality should really be a Wattman train;
  • The wagons must be spacious and accommodate adult passengers;
  • Building materials that enable permanent outdoor use in almost all circumstances;
  • Comfortable and spacious workplace for the driver;
  • Powerful motorization that is efficient in energy use but also has the capacity to be used in hilly terrain;
  • The batteries must be quickly interchangeable.

Based on these criteria and many more, our engineers have spent the last two years designing and testing the Grand Express.

We now have the first three trains in production, which are expected to be delivered to the first customers in mid-May 2021.

Environmentally Friendly

Wattman trains are very environmentally friendly.

Our trains are built exclusively with environmentally friendly materials that are easy to recycle.

All Wattman trains are powered with a silent electric motor in combination with a battery pack that, in addition to superior autonomy, is also very economical with charging. A Wattman train only costs ± 9 KwH to recharge an empty battery pack with the built-in smart charger.

With proper maintenance, our batteries will last at least 2-3 years, after which they are easy to recycle. We have customers who even use the batteries for 5 years without any problems.

Due to the high build quality of a Wattman train, it will last 10 to 15 years!

Parts are also widely available for our older models.

Configuration

The Wattman Grand Express is our largest train and comes standard with a locomotive and 3 passenger wagons with 30 adult passengers’ capacity.

The First Edition is delivered standard with premium equipment like; Sound in Motion, Wheels in Motion, Audio Package, LED Light Package,  Windows, and much more.

We deliver this train in an Exclusive Edition with red, white, and blue wagons and our signature black and red locomotive for the introduction of the new Grand Express.

Locomotive

We completely redesigned the locomotive for the Grand Express.

Due to the large wagons and heavy load, we have switched from a 48-volt battery pack to a much more powerful 72-volt battery pack, which comes standard with a system that allows this package to be exchanged with an optional extra battery pack to increase the autonomy.

For the motor, controller, and differential, we have also switched to another more powerful setup compared to our other trains. A renowned German company supplies this new motorization.

The locomotive is not only larger than our other models, but the chassis and superstructure are also completely new!

The Grand Express is now more suitable for more challenging conditions using 14 inches all-weather tires and suspension. The braking system is also much more powerful with a front disk, rear drum brakes, and parking brake.

Durable weather-resistant materials and windows complete the locomotive.

Wagons

The wagons of the Grand Express have also been completely redesigned.

For easy access to the wagons, they are equipped with spacious sliding doors, and a step automatically deploys from under the wagon. This simplifies getting in and out of the wagon. All of the wagon steps are illuminated for safety.

The wagons have an aluminum chassis, and body finished with a durable ABS finish, colored to the core. This makes the wagons not only lighter but also very maintenance-friendly.

Like the locomotive, all wagons are fitted with larger tires, suspension, and brakes.

Padded seats and windows complete the wagons.

Configuration

We designed the Wattman Grand Express for comfortable rides on almost every terrain.

  • The locomotive is standard outfitted with suspension and an ergonomic adjustable seat for the driver.
  • The wagons have suspension and padded seats. The doors are sliding, giving the passenger easy access.
  • Both the locomotive and wagons have windows that can easily be opened and closed.

Standard Equipment

Sound in Motion

All our trains are equipped with the Wattman characteristic Sound in Motion system as standard; this system produces steam engine sounds based on the train’s speed, making the experience even more realistic.

The Sound in Motion provides three different selectable sound effects; Steam engine sound in synchronization with the train’s speed, Bell, Steam Whistle. The volume of all the sound effects can be adjusted individually.

The Grand Express’s locomotive is provided with four loudspeakers, one on each side and two on the front. This arrangement of the speakers makes the train sounds clearly audible and increases safety in busy areas.

Wheels in Motion

Adding realism to the Grand Express triggers both the children’s and the adult’s imagination and captures their attention.

The Grand Express features our second-generation Wheels in Motion. This system is individually powered with electric motors and is controlled according to the speed of the train.

The Wheels in Motion units can easily be slid upwards to change the batteries or carry out maintenance on the locomotive.

Audio Package

The Audio Package includes a high power amplifier in the locomotive with auxiliary input and microphone input with separate volume controls. Your own sounds or commentary can be provided to the passenger wagons.

Each wagon is equipped with a high-quality speaker in the ceiling.

The optional gooseneck microphone allows the driver to keep his eyes on the road while talking.

Camera Driver

The Grand Express is provided as standard with a Forward vision camera with a monitor for the driver.

This system increases safety and offers the driver a good view of the blind spot at the front of the train.

Automatic Door Locks

The sliding door on the Wagon uses high powered magnets to lock the door in both the fully open and fully closed positions; the door locks can be released by the driver and from the inside by the passengers if required in an emergency.

Exchangeable battery box

The Grand Express train is provided as standard with a built-in universal charger, a removable battery pack with Lead-Acid batteries, and a water distribution system.

The daily driving time can be increased by purchasing additional battery packs with batteries. A separate wall-mounted charger is required to charge the additional battery packs.

The standard battery pack is easy and safe to install or remove by sliding the Wheels in Motion units upwards and using a hand-operated pallet truck with a Wattman battery support frame to quickly and safely exchange the battery pack in the locomotive.

We provide high-performance batteries as standard. These batteries provide good quality in combination with an excellent TOC (Total Operating Cost).
